Introducing Novato Chiropractor Dr. Loren Roberts

I was 38 years old, a painting contractor and I knew that I didn’t want to ‘have to’ climb 40 foot ladders when I was 65 years old in order to make a living. “You ought to become a chiropractor,” said my chiropractor. He continued, “Really! The average age of chiropractic students is 35.” I didn’t know it at that moment, but a seed had been planted!

Novato Chiropractor, Dr. Loren RobertsI started to think seriously about it. The bottom line was that making people feel good would, in turn, make me feel good! It sounded like a ‘win – win’ situation to me. After much soul searching and many conversations with my ‘best friend’/ wife we decided that ‘maybe’ I could do this. The next logical step was for me to take a college level course. Up to this point the only college courses I had taken were electives like ‘music appreciation’, ‘interpersonal communication’ and Spanish. I enrolled in a biology course and got a ‘B’ in it. The die was cast. It took me five years to complete my prerequisites while running a contracting business and raising a family. In the fall of 1985 I entered chiropractic college. Higher education became a joy. I graduated from Life Chiropractic College West (LCCW) in Hayward, California in December of 1989 and received my letter of congratulations from the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners in July of 1990. In March of 1991 I bought the chiropractic office where my whole saga had begun.

The President of LCCW, Gerard Clum, D.C. is one of the best extemporaneous speakers I have ever encountered and, in particular, on the subject of chiropractic. My admiration for the man knows no bounds. When he asks for my participation in a project, my response is always “yes.”’ I served on the Alumni Association board for six years, two of the years as its president. My year as past president was spent as the liaison to the Board of Regents, the governing body of LCCW. I will complete my first year as a member of the Board of Regents in October of 2009, an honor of which I am very proud.

My practice philosophy can best be expressed with my opening statement for all of my speaking engagements. I am Loren K. Roberts, a Doctor of Chiropractic with a certification as an Internal Health Specialist. I treat bio-mechanical and bio-chemical imbalances of the body, utilizing sound scientific applications of chiropractic adjustments, rehabilitative exercises, good nutrition through enzyme therapy and lifestyle changes. I do this to help the ‘baby boomers’ preserve their health and the ‘young moderns’ to maximize theirs.

In November 2009, Joyce and I will have been married 27 years! We met doing ‘community theatre’ in the early ‘70s and we have raised two beautiful daughters. They have married men whom we couldn’t be more in love with. They, in turn, have given us four beautiful granddaughters aged four to nine and one grandson, who will be one in June. I always keep a running ‘collage’ of the years events up on my treatment room wall to share with my ‘patient family’. I am an avid golfer and my idea of retirement would be nine holes of golf in the morning and about five hours in the office in the afternoon maybe 2-7 pm. Joyce and I love to travel; we prefer the little, out-of-the-way condo versus the big hotels. Our travels have taken us to the UK and Ireland to east Hawaii to the west, Canada and Alaska to the north and Baja Calif. to the south and camping coast to coast in the US of A.

Prior to my commitment to chiropractic I was a guy who bragged about ‘living on beer and peanuts’ and I visited way too many ‘fast food joints’. Today, I ask nothing of my patients that I am not committed to myself. I preach shopping the outer walls of your grocery store – never go in the middle. There is nothing there that will sustain life over the long haul with only one exception: frozen fruits and vegetables. I am a huge fan of Wii Fitness, the best thing to ever happen to television. Balance is the secret to rehabilitation and this is at the core of the Wii. I am even contemplating having one in my office, perhaps it will be there by the time you read this. I am adjusted weekly. I give my patients as much information as possible so they can make informed decisions regarding vaccinations, the use of antibiotics or over the counter pain relievers. I avoid using any of the above.

Enough about me! How can we help you with today’s safe and natural chiropractic care? Give us a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.
